Yoko Tawada is one of the leading contemporary authors. Writing in both German and Japanese, she is the recipient of numerous literary awards including the Akutagawa Prize, the Goethe Medal, the Kleist Prize and the most recent the National Book Award. Her texts have been translated into multiple languages.The audience will have a unique opportunity to discuss with Tawada her personal literary experience as an exophoric/native-language author, her creative life between two languages, and her views on the intersection between language and culture. We will also hear what Tawada discovered while interacting with the audience during her multi-lingual literary presentations.
